News and Updates June 24, 2007 - Nick Canani's most recent win featured Elite Stables' Tocqueville, a recent $15,000 claim that stepped up to an impressive $40,000 level at Churchill Downs in the seventh race. The 4 year-old captured the win by 5 3/4 lengths in an outstanding wire-to-wire effort.  This was Canani's first start for the horse after the claim on June 1st. With this win, Canani's yearly winning percentage raised to almost 23% for the year. View Chart June 22, 2007 - Talega Creek also won in an exciting finish at Mountaineer Park in West Virginia.  The five year-old gelding relaxed early in the race, trailing until the far turn.  When asked to run in mid-turn, he rallied five wide, passing horses until the sixteenth pole, where he appeared to be a beaten horse.  But under a stiff drive, he rallied once again in an exciting finish to win by a head at the wire. Nick Canani recently returned from successful trips to the Barrett's (CA) May Sale and the Timonium (MD) May Sale where he purchased several new horses for clients.  New acquisitions will be racing in the near future.
